At first I heard "Take Me Out". They got me hooked. Then I stole the album from the internets. In order to burn it onto an audio CD I sent each track separately to a friend using p2p on an instant messaging client (remember those?). And then I listened the hell out of this CD. When I heard "40ft" they bought me. So I waited for their second record like I'd waited for nothing else before. Though I'm no longer 15 and they no longer put out stuff like that, it's okay. Still love it. It was great. While it lasted. For the record, I purchased original copies later on ;)

Some good songs on here, but it seems like there's something missing here, like they haven't quite put it all together. Some of the lyric writing is rather poor, and the guitar parts seem cut and paste on a lot of the tracks. Haven't heard any of their other albums; I imagine that they got better than this?

If you narrow down all the rest of FF's discography to the less terrible 35 minutes, it still wouldn't lick the taint sweat of their debut.

I don't really listen to this type of music too often, but the album that comes to mind when I hear this is The Killers "Hot Fuss", and I agree, this is probably better than that. The rest of the Killers' albums are much better than this though.

Something about simplicity of FF reminded me of earlier danceable punk rock titles like Gen X or something, and that was the sound I dug. I did listen to The Killers' Hot Fuss when it debuted and thought it was decent. What other Killers albums are worth listening to? Recommended order?

I think all of their albums are worth listening to. Maybe it's just recency bias, but I think they get better on each release, so if you want to, listen to them backwards. Or you can just listen to them in their regular order if you want to hear their natural progression. "Day and Age" may be their most diverse album, but "Human" is such a dumb song, that it pains me to say that it is their best, but like I said, they're all very good and probably better than "Hot Fuss".
