Good album. On par with the many Of Montreal albums released during the same period.

Hate how they were pigeonholed as "indie electropop duo who made Kids and Electric Feel" because this album is a neo-psychedelic indie masterpiece in the vein of the Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev with glam influences from critic darlings David Bowie and Brian Eno. Ok, nerd rant over.

The fact that we got Congratulations and not an attempt at OS 2 is something I'll always be thankful for. I love OS but I love that this was how Andrew and Ben responded to the bat shit response to that album. Absolutely underrated.

It's kinda funny how every time I watch some Youtube video on MGMT's career insisting this album isn't good because they refuse to buy into any narrative other than "OS big, middle two albums suck, LDA a return to form" I feel this way a little bit more. The good news is that I see more and more people sticking up for this album as I look around.

was really ready and willing for this to be a sleeper classic...but i don't feel any warmer on it than i did in 2010. it's cool that psych/prog purists have something modern that nails that style, but i just don't hear anything we didn't get from the late '60s/early '70s (or tangerine dream, at the end of "siberian breaks"). impressive pastiche, but little else.
